Overview

There is a place where engineering, architecture, mystical nature and ancestral cultures all come together through the history of a flooded and rebuilt town, and the cradle of a legend that sparked the Spanish gold rush: El Dorado. You can find all this in the town and the Guatavita lagoon.

Starting this tour you will visit the unique town of Guatavita, really its “new version”, since the “original” was flooded to be rebuilt, this fantastic story will be told by one of our expert guides while you walk and contemplate its cobbled streets and the colonial buildings.

We will continue the tour traveling towards a hidden treasure among the native nature of the Bogotá savannah, in the middle of its hills and its vegetation, at the highest point in the middle of the mountains you will find the sacred lagoon of Guatavita, a site that became legendary thanks to the gold offerings made by the Muisca culture, a pre-Columbian population of which you will hear more during our journey.

Finally, on the way back you can enjoy the amazing view that the Tominé reservoir leaves us, and you will enjoy a typical snack, such as an arepa or almojábana with panela water, traditional foods from our Colombian Andean zone.
